Recently speaking with Total Film magazine, Spider-Verse 2 director Powers teases that the portal-creation powers of the villain, Spot, will play a larger role that is set to affect Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part 2. Check out Powers’ full comment below:

In the comics, the Spot is known for his ability to open interdimensional portals, seemingly to an unlimited degree, seeing as he utilizes this power to instantly travel long distances and commit crimes to his own accord. It would be interesting to see what his motives will be once he goes up against Miles in the Spider-Verse sequel.

Alongside Jason Schwartzman’s Spot is Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac’s antagonistic role as Spider-Man 2099. Though Spot is going to be the main villain, Spider-Man 2099 is also worth noting for the sequel as he is bound to have a major impact on Miles Morales on his web-slinging multiverse-jumping adventure.

Meanwhile, we’ll also be seeing Hailee Steinfield reprising her role as Gwen Stacy or Spider-Gwen and Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker in the spider-verse sequel. In fact, the producer previously teased a potential romance sparking between Spider-Gwen and Miles as they battle off the Spider-people.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will hit theaters on June 2, 2023.
