There have been a lot of rumors surrounding Spider-Man: Far From Home, and now it looks like director Jon Watts has decided to address some of the biggest theories that fans have made about Tom Holland's second standalone Spider-Man movie.
Speaking in an interview with Comic Book Movie, Watts opens up about some of Far From Home's most persistent rumors. This includes Gwen Stacy, Norman Osborn, and surprisingly, Captain Britain.
Ever since Zendaya's MJ was introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming, fans have been wondering whether Peter's other comic book love interest, would ever be introduced in the MCU. Earlier this year, there were reports that "leaked" audition tapes for the role of Gwen Stacy existed online.
However, according to Watts, he absolutely had "no idea" what those tapes were about because Gwen Stacy was never planned for the narrative of Far From Home.
The same goes for Norman Osborn. As lovely as it would be to have Goblin in the Homecoming sequel, the villain was never intended for the project.
"We never talked about that for this film," Watts admitted. "It's just a question of what is the best idea for the story we are telling. Hopefully, the best idea always wins but what's exciting about working with Marvel is that you feel like every idea is always on the table."
Watts also addressed rumors of Captain Britain's appearance. Seeing how Peter Parker is taking a trip to Europe, fans have been hoping to see Britain's version of Captain America pop up somewhere.
"We talked about ways...if we could have come up with a clever way of incorporating Captain Britain, I think we would have," Watts admitted. "There was never really anything that stood out that didn't seem like a shoehorned in reference."
Guess fans were hoping for nothing really. Maybe we can see all these different characters in future Marvel films. Who knows.
