Spider-Gwen, aka Ghost Spider, continues to be one of Marvel's most popular characters to this day. The simple concept of imagining Stacy being bitten by one of the bio-engineered spiders that also bit Peter before is a fun one, so fans were shocked to see a comic starring her canned after only 10 issues. As it turns out, the title will get a relaunch called Ghost Spider #1.
Unlike her previous comics, however, this series will have her in the mainstream Marvel Universe for the most part. The first unveiled cover for the comic book also has major Into the Spider-Verse feels, with Peter and Miles Morales in the background, which is always neat.
The press release from Marvel.com reads as follows:
"After dipping her toes into the main Marvel Universe, Gwen Stacy is finally taking the leap part-time as she enrolls in Empire State University. But Gwen's going to need to do her Spider-History research if she's going to figure out just who from Spider's past is keeping tabs on her!"
"Seanan McGuire and Takeshi Miyazawa are bringing their A-game back to Gwen's world in GHOST-SPIDER #1, where she's going to face some familiar Spider-Foes in her travels between her native home of Earth-65 and Earth-616—the Marvel Universe we all know and love!"
Ghost-Spider #1 will be coming out this August. Starring Spider-Gwen, it will be written by Seanan McGuire and illustrated by Takeshi Kiyazawa.
