The highly anticipated sequel, Spaceballs 2, has finally started filming, with the full cast also announced to the excitement of many fans.
A few months ago, we learned the exciting news that Spaceballs 2 is officially moving forward with Mel Brooks involved as producer and star, with the movie set for a 2027 release. Not only that, but it was also confirmed that Rick Moranis will be making his acting comeback in the project to reprise his fan-favorite role. Now, the sequel is one step closer to happening as the cameras are finally rolling.
Who Stars in Spaceballs 2? Meet the Full Cast

It was recently announced that Spaceballs 2 has finally started filming in Australia after months of anticipation from fans since the project received a green light.
They also shared a photo of the cast's table read, parodying the cast announcement that Star Wars: The Force Awakens made more than a decade ago, where they also released a table read photo before production started.
Fans were also able to get a glimpse of the full cast of Spaceballs 2, including another returning actor from the first film that hadn't been announced before, and one of the stars of Superman, whose casting was kept under wraps until the photo announcement.
Here are the confirmed returning cast members from the first film:
- Bill Pullman as Lone Starr
- Rick Moranis as Lord Dark Helmet
- Mel Brooks as Yogurt and President Skroob
- Daphne Zuniga as Queen Vespa
- George Wyner as Colonel Sandurz
Meanwhile, here are the new cast members who are confirmed to join the sequel:
- Josh Gad
- Lewis Pullman as Starburst, Lone Starr and Vespa's son
- Keke Palmer as Destiny
- Anthony Carrigan
It is unknown yet whether more casting announcements will be unveiled in the coming weeks. However, the confirmed actors so far have been a great mixture of legacy stars and talents of this generation.
What to Expect in Spaceballs 2
So far, the plot details regarding the sequel are still being kept under wraps, but it is described as "A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film."
Brooks said in the announcement video, "After forty years, we asked, 'What do the fans want?' But instead, we're making this movie."
Josh Greenbaum will serve as the director. Gad also co-wrote the script and serves as producer alongside Brooks.
