With Game of Thrones Season 8 finally airing, now is probably the best time to start marketing X-Men: Dark Phoenix since Sophie Turner is the main star. For now, it looks like the movie is gearing up for the drop of a new trailer, and Turner herself has shot a new promo teasing it:
Of course, there isn't anything said about an actual new trailer, so it's likely that it could be something else. If we follow the marketing for Avengers: Endgame, the film has released some BTS featurettes as well as some ‘Special Looks', so maybe we could be getting one of those. With Dark Phoenix marking the end of an almost 20-year journey for Fox's X-Men franchise, you would think that they would want to commemorate it in some way—even if it's only with the marketing.
For now, I guess everyone has their sights on the release of Endgame. It's literally the most anticipated movie of the year, and not even Star Wars can compete. While it wouldn't make sense to try and out-market Marvel's next tentpole, I guess the excitement for Game of Thrones could help boost the interest in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
The X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe when one of their own, Jean Grey, starts to spiral out of control. During a rescue mission in outer space, Jean is nearly killed when she's hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful but far more unstable. The X-Men must now band together to save her soul and battle aliens that want to use Grey's new abilities to rule the galaxy.
Catch X-Men: Dark Phoenix when it hits theaters June 6.
