Now is a great time to be a Sakamoto Days fan. Aside from the upcoming anime adaptation, Sakamoto Days is also getting a manga spinoff titled Sakamoto Holidays.

This upcoming manga was revealed in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, though it will be serialized in a different Shueisha magazine.

As its title implies, this manga should feature a more lighthearted story, making it a promising read for fans.

Sakamoto Days Gets Its First Spinoff Manga

The Sakamoto Days manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump back in November 2020, and it has since become a big hit, with the series having over 5 million copies in circulation as of May 2024.

Given its popularity, many fans believed that an anime adaptation was inevitable. As such, it wasn’t too surprising that an anime adaptation by TMS Entertainment (of Undead Unluck and Dr. Stone fame) was revealed last week.

If that’s not enough, Sakamoto Days is also getting a new manga spinoff. The upcoming Sakamoto Holidays manga will be drawn by Tetsu Okawa, one of the assistants working under series creator Yuto Suzuki.

This isn’t the first time that a popular Shueisha manga has gotten a spinoff announcement ahead of an anime adaptation. Previously, Kaiju No. 8 also got a spinoff, which was released ahead of the anime.

While there aren’t a lot of details about it yet, the manga’s release schedule was confirmed in the announcement.

Sakamoto Holidays Manga Release Schedule Revealed

Sakamoto Holidays will be serialized in Shueisha’s Saikyo Jump magazine beginning July 4, 2024. This is the same magazine as other titles such as the Kaiju No. 8 and One Piece spinoffs.

Given that Saikyo Jump is a monthly magazine, this new spinoff will also get a monthly release schedule. This is also the case with most manga spinoffs, as weekly release schedules are typically reserved for mainline titles.

As Saikyo Jump is released only in Japan, there’s no official word yet on an English release for this new spinoff.

Will the Sakamoto Holidays Spinoff Get an English Release? Our Prediction

As the Sakamoto Days manga is pretty popular, it won’t be a surprise to see this spinoff get an official English release on Manga Plus and Viz Media’s Shonen Jump app.

For reference, the Kaiju No. 8 B-Side spinoff is released in English internationally. Of course, that’s not a guarantee that Sakamoto Holidays will get a proper English serialization.

Even if it doesn’t get a Manga Plus release, chances are still high that Viz Media will pick it up for volume releases.
