Queen Elizabeth is a great leader. There is no doubt that she is very much loved by the people that many wonder about the future of monarchy without her. However, Her Majesty is reportedly boring, according to a royal historian.
Queen Elizabeth The Best Monarch Even If She's Boring?
Historian Tom Holland, who specializes in medieval history, had been asked to name the best monarch since William the Conqueror. For him, Queen Elizabeth is the best.
He considered the 96-year-old British royal the best monarch because she is "heroically boring." Although the description didn't sound flattering at all, Holland stressed that Her Majesty was actually very intelligent, Express reported.
He even believed that when the Queen dies, she would be labeled "the model of a constitutional monarch."
"She is transcendently boring. She never says anything interesting," he added, but believed it was one of the reasons she was "heroic."
"We know that she is a very witty woman, very clever," he continued. "She has persevered in an actually heroic show of being boring throughout her reign."
Queen Elizabeth The Second-Longest Reigning Monarch In History
The Queen who celebrated her Platinum Jubilee earlier this month is the second-longest reigning monarch in world history. She ascended the throne on Feb. 16, 1952, and has ruled for 70 years already.
She's only two years behind French King Louis XIV, who tops the spot by serving as monarch for over 72 years from taking the throne at age 4.
Although the Queen is just second to King Louis XIV at the moment, she has already set a royal record. In 2015, she was named the longest-reigning monarch in British history after exceeding the tenure of her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, NPR reported.
"Inevitably a long life can pass by many milestones — my own is no exception — but I thank you all and the many others at home and overseas for your touching messages of great kindness," she said at the time.
