Prince William and Kate Middleton have been very protective when it comes to their children. Even if Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have been exposed to the public, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been keen on keeping their privacy.
The royal couple wants to be in control of when and where they want to share their kids with the public. That's why the future king was reportedly livid when a cameraman attempted to film them without consent.
Prince William Reportedly Filmed In A Heated Row With Photographer Over Family's Privacy
A video was uploaded on YouTube filming a quiet country lane near Cambridge's Anmer Hall property in Norfolk in January last year. It was shared over the weekend and had gained over 20,000 times before it was removed. However, some versions have been shared on other social media channels, including TikTok and Twitter, Mirror reported.
In the three-minute footage, Prince William can be seen confronting a photographer and accusing him of invading their privacy. His and Kate Middleton's children are believed to be just out of shot.
Kensington Palace said the cameraman breached the family's privacy, and the confrontation is among the challenges that the royal family faces in an online era.
The Cambridges have been caught in privacy row several times. At one point, they sued a magazine for leaking Middleton's sunbathing photos.
They filed a lawsuit against France's Closer Magazine in 2017 and won. The magazine was ordered to pay 100,000 (£91,700) at a Paris court after the judge ruled that photographer breached her privacy.
Footage Of Prince William Allegedly Losing Temper Over Privacy Row Receives Mixed Responses
Prince William's video confronting a photographer had gained traction online, and even after it was removed, several netizens reacted to it. The online users have mixed opinions, with some slamming Prince William and others sympathizing with the father-of-three.
"I knew this video wouldn’t last I got told my contact at TikTok I COULD NOT post the video of him losing his temper it’s a public video though, they’re public profiles so why not #PrinceWilliam," one wrote.
"Prince Willie has been reported numerous times to have a violent raging temper, by his own staff," another added.
"If anything most people sided with him and it shows he's a protective father. Prince William agreed to provide pics of his kids at regular intervals acknowledging their future roles providing the paps don't stalk them. He literally said that. Pays to do research before tweeting," an online user commented defending the Duke of Cambridge.
"I did not think that Prince William lost his temper. He handled the situation in a mature manner," another netizen opined.
Prince William acknowledged the challenges of growing up in an online social media era for his children. He even voiced his concern about the kind of world that await his kids.
"I am very concerned though that on every challenge they face – fake news, extremism, polarisation, hate speech, trolling, mental health, privacy, and bullying – our tech leaders seem to be on the back foot," he was quoted by Mirror as saying.
