Let's face it: X-Men: Apocalypse was not the best X-Men film out there. However, Oscar Isaac has no plans of removing the movie from his resume. The Moon Knight star just confirmed that he was a huge fan of the character he played and that he will never disown the film!
Oscar Isaac recently sat down for an interview with The New York Times where he discussed his impressive career. Not surprisingly, X-Men: Apocalypse was brought up and Isaac was asked if he was embarrassed about being a part of the movie. Interestingly, Isaac pointed out that he isn't completely ashamed of it.
"No, I don’t disown it. I know exactly what I went in there wanting to do and the reasons why," Isaac said. He then stated that it had its perks.
"There were these amazing actors involved that I really wanted to work with, [James] McAvoy and [Michael] Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence," he said.
"I collected X-Men growing up, and I loved Apocalypse, I just found him such a freaky, weird character," Isaac continued. "And then you get there and you’re like, Oh my God, I’ve got all these prosthetics on. I’ve got a suit on. I can’t move. I can’t see anybody. All these actors I wanted to work with — I can’t even see who they are.
"I still think back to that time with fondness," he added. "I wish it would have been a better film and that they would have taken care of the character a little better, but those are the risks."
X-Men: Apocalypse certainly had an amazing cast but the acting was never the problem. Although the movie wasn't a huge success, it was still a film that we couldn't easily forget.
Oscar Isaac returns in the final episode of Moon Knight on May 3, 2022.
