How Long Will Netflix’s One Piece Stay on Air?
Premiering in August 2023, Netflix’s One Piece has adapted 154 chapters of the manga so far across its first two seasons.
The upcoming third season is expected to adapt around 62–63 manga chapters, primarily focusing on the Alabasta Arc, which covers Chapters 155 to 217 in the manga.
With only just over 200 chapters being covered across its three-season run, there’s still much more to cover to complete Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and the Straw Hats’ journey, meaning fans may see the cast grow old on screen.
When asked if Mackenyu would love to adapt the Wano Arc on the small screen during Anime NYC 2026, the Japanese actor admitted he would be old if that ever happened.
In fact, he said (via ComicBook) that he would probably be 90 years old by the time the story of Kaido and Kozuki Oden finally made it to Netflix.
So far, Mackenyu is only 29 years old, and the Wano Arc doesn’t begin until Chapter 909, continuing through Chapter 1057.
As the third season is only expected to cover Chapters 155–217, the Wano Arc may not be adapted until approximately the 11th season – though this still depends on how much material each season covers.
But this may not be far from happening, as producers Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements have expressed hopes to adapt One Piece for 12 seasons.
“We have hopes for 12 seasons, there’s so much material,” they said. And by the looks of it, there’s still a lot of story to tell before that finally happens.
What to Expect From One Piece Season 3?
One Piece Season 2 ended on Drum Island with the defeat of King Wapol (Rob Colletti), the recruitment of Tony Tony Chopper (Mikaela Hoover), and the revelation that Sir Crocodile (Joe Manganiello) is the leader of Baroque Works and one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
So, in Season 3, fans will see Luffy and his crew help Princess Vivi (Charithra Chandran) save her desert homeland of Alabasta from a devastating civil war after Crocodile secretly fueled the conflict alongside his syndicate, Baroque Works.
To prevent the kingdom from crumbling into the sand, the Straw Hats will have to choose sides and fight an entire nation’s war to stop the conflict from destroying Alabasta.
