- Quick Answer: Inde Navarrette is completely open to returning for an Obsession sequel, though director Curry Barker has also considered an anthology format for future installments.
Director Curry Barker has expressed his interest in making Obsession 2, and now lead star Inde Navarrette reveals whether she would return for a sequel.
The supernatural horror film has become one of the most successful releases of 2026, earning a whopping $500 million at the box office against a production budget of less than $800,000.
With the movie’s open ending, will fans once again see Navarrette reprising her now iconic role as Nikki?
Will Inde Navarrette Return for Obsession 2?

Obsession has become a massive career breakthrough for Inde Navarrette, turning her from a supporting TV actor into a global star.
She has not only earned widespread recognition but also received critical praise and accolades, such as a Critics Choice Award, for her incredible portrayal of the tragic victim-turned-antagonist Nikki.
This success has also opened doors for the 25-year-old actress, who has been cast as Rogue in Marvel’s X-Men reboot and will star in Apple’s sci-fi thriller The Waffle House Index.
So, with her now-busy schedule, will Navarrette return for Obsession 2?
“I would totally be open to doing a sequel. Are you kidding me? Who am I to say no?” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “And what is she doing afterwards? I think the non-pretty answer… is she’s starting a grief process. When things happen that are completely out of our control, like losing a loved one, losing a parent, losing autonomy, having an experience that wasn’t your fault, it’s very difficult to understand anything. She’s just starting the grief process.”
Although a sequel has yet to be confirmed, Navarrette’s enthusiasm leaves the door open for Nikki’s story to continue.
What Could Happen in Obsession 2?

After everything that happened to Nikki, from waking up from the magical hold of the “One Wish Willow” that Bear (Michael Johnston) imposed on her to being left traumatized, alone, and facing a bleak future that could involve life imprisonment, Inde Navarrette’s suggestion that her character may be “starting a grief process” is a good starting point for a sequel.
Picking up from the events of the first movie, Nikki may face immense legal problems, potentially ending up in jail or a mental institution. She may also try to understand the supernatural lore of the One Wish Willow and why Bear did what he did.
There are other storylines Curry Barker could explore, too, such as Nikki finally learning more about the wishing willows and starting to use them herself for personal gain.
She may use them to escape her upcoming legal battles and eventually become addicted to their power, giving the title Obsession a whole new meaning.
However, in an earlier interview, Barker revealed that he planned to make an anthology rather than continue Nikki’s story.
“Each episode is a different wish that goes completely off the rails,” he told Total Film. “Maybe I’ll direct the pilot with the same DP, and you could invite other filmmakers to give their spin on it. That would be really cool.”
With no sequel or anthology officially confirmed, fans will have to wait to see what the future holds for Obsession.
