New Trailer for CG-Animated Movie Lupin III: The First Gives Us More Plot

Anime has been around for decades, but only a few titles manage to define the medium and retain its timelessness. One such title is Lupin III from Monkey Punch, and a CG-animated film is set to come out this December. What's cool is, the film has dropped another amazing trailer.

This time around, the preview gives us more on the plot, and it looks like we're presented with the McGuffin of the film which is the Bresson Diary. We don't know exactly what it does, but it's said to be tied to Lupin's infamous grandfather, the (fictional) thief Arsene Lupin.

Here's the synopsis posted up on IMDb:

Lupin III goes on a grand adventure to uncover the secrets of the Bresson Diary, which is tied to the legacy of his famous grandfather.

As you can see, the animation style looks amazing, and it's kind of refreshing to see an animated film that doesn't look like a Disney movie. The animators have managed to find a perfect balance between CG-animation and the original 2D look, and all the characters from Lupin to Fujiko really stand out.

With 2D animation usually dominating Japanese pop culture, I'm open to seeing this new take on CG-animation. Not only do the characters look fantastic, but the action seems amazing as well. Let's hope this is a treat for both fans of Lupin III and people looking for an introduction to the franchise.

Catch Lupin III: The First when it comes out Dec. 6.
