Reports revealed that Morgan Wallen declined to participate in a musical sketch during the recent episode of Saturday Night Live.
The country singer's stint on the hit NBC variety series has been under fire recently after abruptly walking off the stage during the goodbyes, and fans have been speculating whether he had any behind-the-scenes issues with the cast and crew.
Morgan Wallen Turned Down SNL Musical Sketch
Variety reported that Wallen declined to participate in the "Big Dumb Line" musical sketch during the recent episode of Saturday Night Live.
The sketch featured guest host Mikey Madison, Chloe Fineman, and Bowen Yang singing a Europop-inspired song about waiting for "dumb" lines in New York City.
The country singer would have sung the bridge part of the song. However, he turned down the chance despite the part being written for him. Joe Jonas ended up replacing his spot.
It is unknown yet why Wallen decided not to participate in the musical sketch.
While Jonas' surprise cameo was welcomed by fans when the episode aired, this new report revealed more behind-the-scenes scoop about Wallen's appearance.
Morgan Wallen's SNL Controversy
Wallen's abrupt exit from the Saturday Night Live stage has baffled fans since the episode aired.
He even posted a photo of his private jet on his Instagram story with the cryptic caption, "Get me to God's country."
According to a previous report from Variety, sources close to Wallen have told them that there is no tension between the country singer and the show. They maintained that he had a "good time" and had no slight intention of abruptly leaving the stage.
It was also the way he entered and exited the studio all week during rehearsal and camera blocking, and he wasn’t thinking about being on-camera when he strolled off stage.
Long-time cast member Kenan Thompson also weighed in on the controversy and revealed that he was as puzzled as fans were when Wallen walked off.
"It's definitely a spike in the norm. We're so used to everybody just turning around and high-fiving us, everybody's saying, 'Good job, good job, good job.' So when there's a departure from that, it's like, hmm, I wonder what that's about?" he said.
