Jennifer Coolidge Joins the Cast of Minecraft Movie
Deadline has confirmed that The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge is joining the cast of Minecraft. There are no details yet regarding the role that she will play in the film.
The actress' involvement in the high-profile film comes as she recently won her second Emmy for her performance in the second season of The White Lotus.
While she was mostly known for her scene-stealing roles in Legally Blonde and American Pie, Coolidge experienced a career resurgence thanks to the first season of The White Lotus as her character became a subject of many memes online.
The details regarding the story of the film are still being kept under wraps. Jared Hess is directing the film. Production is taking place in New Zealand.
Minecraft will be Coolidge's most high-profile film project to date since her career resurgence and it is exciting to see what kind of role she will play in the film. We can safely guess that it will be a scene-stealing comedic character.
With Black and Coolidge's involvement in the film, it also heavily suggests that Minecraft is going to lean more into the comedic genre which could be an unexpected direction for some fans.
As we've also seen with Momoa's performance in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, he also has a penchant nowadays for going to a comedic route if the role calls him and it is likely that he'll do it again in Minecraft.
Minecraft is slated for release in theaters on April 4, 2025.
