The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were a picture of love when they flew to the U.K. earlier this month for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee. They held hands and smiled at the crowd when they arrived and left St. Paul's Cathedral despite the mix of cheers and boos from the public.

However, a viral video titled "MEDIA SHOCK! Harry & Meghan Have Finally Signed The DIVORCE Papers" sent their fans into a frenzy after the Platinum Jubilee. The video claimed that the royal couple had already signed divorce papers, Express reported.

It alleged that Prince Harry felt "tightly controlled" by his wife. The video was critical of the duchess and attributed several claims to anonymous sources. However, it also sounded unsure, adding, "the signing of the divorce papers of Harry and Meghan is just a rumor in the media. The royal couple have yet to confirm."

Pulitzer-winning fact-checking website PolitiFact looked into the rumor and concluded that the "Claims that Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, divorced are baseless."

The fact-checker also flagged the video as part of Facebook's effort to fight the spread of fake news and misinformation.

"A video in the Facebook post claims to offer up juicy details, such as that Harry is back in England while Meghan stays in the United States with the couple’s two children, but it does not provide any credible evidence that any of this is actually true," PolitiFact's assessment added.

The fact-checker acknowledged the various reports claiming that Prince Harry and Markle are heading for divorce, especially after the duchess' half-sibling, Samantha Markle, speculated that "maybe" Prince Harry was "already questioning it." However, there was nothing else to corroborate the divorce claim.

"There are plenty of articles and blog posts about the couple, but nothing about a divorce.
