With Thunderbolts* approaching its arrival in theaters soon, you might be in the mood to watch past MCU movies and TV shows to prepare for the release of the new film.
The film focuses on an unconventional team of antiheroes consisting of fan-favorite MCU characters as they must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts.
Here are the MCU movies and TV shows that you could watch in preparation for Thunderbolts*.
Black Widow
In some ways, Thunderbolts* could be seen as a sequel to Black Widow, especially with Yelene Belova being the heart and center of the film despite being an ensemble piece.
Black Widow is an important watch since it marked the introductions of Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster, who are all members of the team. Some of the DNA of the film could also be present when you watch Thunderbolts*.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is an essential watch as it introduced John Walker/US Agent in the MCU and explored how he was originally supposed to be the new Captain America before it went into disarray.
The series also technically features the first appearance of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who is assembling the Thunderbolts team. It gives you an overview of her objective as she forms a new group of "heroes."
Ant-Man and the Wasp
While Ant-Man and the Wasp is not necessarily an all-time MCU favorite, it is still an essential watch when you prepare for Thunderbolts* since it marked the introduction of Ghost, who is a member of the team.
The film will give you an idea to learn about her backstory, personality, and powers. The ending also sets up her potential arc that might pay off when we see her again in Thunderbolts*.
Hawkeye
Hawkeye was the last time that we saw Yelena Belova in the MCU so far, where we saw her deal with her grief over Natasha Romanoff's death and get closure through her sister's friend, Clint Barton.
While the entire series may not be directly connected to the new film, certain moments are essential in order for you to catch up on Yelena's journey and find out where she is at some point before the events of Thunderbolts*.
Captain America: Brave New World
Bucky Barnes made a brief cameo appearance in Captain America: Brave New World, which makes it a somewhat essential watch for Thunderbolts*.
While he only showed up for a short amount of time, it was established that Bucky was running for congress at this timeline, and it would explain why he would be a congressman when we see him again in the new film.
