Now, in a post on X, industry insider Caleb Williams claimed that casting for Iceman is officially underway.
“Small Tidbit…..in obvious news…Ice Man/Bobby Drake is currently casting for the #XMen reboot,” he wrote. “He is one of the first members to meet Jean Grey in the X-Manson.”
True enough, Iceman, or Robert Louis “Bobby” Drake, is a founding member of the X-Men in Marvel Comics.
And this is not the first time insiders have claimed he will be joining the revival film, as another original mutant might also be part of the roster.
Back in August, Marvel scooper James Mack also revealed in a post on X that he had information about the “actors for Angel and Iceman in the X-Men movie.”
This came after his April post, in which he revealed that the studio was eyeing younger actors, such as Jacob Elordi, Julia Butters, Timothée Chalamet, and Finn Wolfhard, for potential future roles.
As this claim is now gaining traction, it looks like it won’t be long before Marvel Studios finally confirms these OG mutants’ appearances in the X-Men reboot.
What Will Be Iceman’s Role in the X-Men Reboot?
True to Marvel Studios’ fashion, details about the X-Men reboot have remained under wraps. However, there are several theories about where its story could go, especially with the alleged appearance of Iceman.
With Jean Grey's (Sadie Sink) introduction in the MCU in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the reboot may feature the powerful mutant as a central figure in the early story.
Also, with Kit Connor playing Cyclops, it is highly likely that Iceman may be among the first mutant members to meet Jean and Scott Summers at the X-Mansion.
If this happens, the movie may be drawing from the original X-Men setup, with Jean, Cyclops, and Iceman joining the original five alongside Beast and Angel.
