Marvel's Spider-Man: The Black Cat Strikes Continues the Gamerverse Line of Comics

It looks like Marvel is planning to keep their Gamerverse line of comics going strong as they announced another Marvel's Spider-Man series. Based on the best-selling PS4 exclusive, the latest series will be called Marvel's Spider-Man: The Black Cat Strikes, which appears to be based on the first DLC pack of the game. Not much is known about the series but it will likely be a five or six-issue mini-series.

Like the previous Spider-Man Gamerverse comics, this will be written by Dennis Hopeless, though the art will be handled by Luca Maresca. Not much else was given from the announcement at New York Comic-Con but this should be a solid bit of comic book reading, especially if you didn't play Marvel's Spider-Man or buy its DLC.

Prior to this, we had our first original story with Marvel's Spider-Man: Velocity, which was a five-issue mini-series dedicated to figuring out why Peter Parker had to make a suit that gave him super speed. With this Black Cat mini-series confirmed, it's easy to assume that the next two DLC packs about Hammerhead and Silver Sable are next.

Hopefully, we get more original tales to since it would be cool to see what else Dennis Hopeless has planned for the Gamerverse. Then again, with a sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man all but confirmed, he's probably limited by the information given to him.

Marvel's Spider-Man: The Black Cat Strikes #1 is scheduled to come out in January 2020.
