The Marvel's Avengers video game release was announced back in June. Although there is very little information about the game, Marvel makes an effort to upload videos and snippets to tease the highly-anticipated game.
With that said, Marvel released a new gameplay video that highlights Black Widow's character. On their Twitter account handle PlayAvengers, Romanoff's capabilities were shown through a thread. Starting off with the video, Marvel added a little background information with regards to the character. The clip shows Natasha Romanoff on a collapsing bridge as she fights against Taskmaster. Vince Napoli, the Lead Combat Designer at Crystal Dynamics, says that Black Widow's gameplay and mechanics were designed to fit her character which is a complex and nuanced one. Her capabilities such as "keeping cool in any situation" and rigorous training were elevated with the use of gadgets, tools, weapons, and attacks for a specific scenario. She is also equipped with "grenades, ammo types, grappling hooks, stun batons, and her iconic Widow's Bite."
"In a manner that is fitting of a trained assassin, Widow's gameplay loop is all about creating & exploiting enemy vulnerabilities," says Napoli. Making it a point that playing as Black Widow would be all about "efficiency." The player needs to strategize as Black Widow is known for recognizing the enemy's weakest state in order to achieve "quick takedowns."
Widow's character is "versatile" and "deadly." She is able to fight whether she's from a distance or up close. Napoli says that Widow's gameplay style "always feels distinct" regardless of how you play her character.
Fans are ecstatic to play the Marvel's Avengers video game since they can experience to play as their favorite superheroes. Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix, the game will feature the likes of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and Black Widow.
Marvel's Avengers is scheduled for release on May 15, 2020.
