Marvel TV President Jeph Loeb On The Studio’s Upcoming Mature Animated Series

Marvel TV isn't getting left behind while Marvel Studios continues on to its Phase 5 film and television projects.

There have been a lot of questions about whether Marvel TV's fan-favorite shows on Hulu would stay there while Disney prepared for the launch of its upcoming streaming platform, Disney+. According to Marvel TV president Jeph Loeb, the studio has a lot of things planned for fans.

Speaking in an interview with Deadline, not only does Loeb reveal that Marvel TV has projects for Disney+, but that the network is also working on new, mature, animated series.

"I'm a huge Archer fan, and Dan Buckley, who's the president of all things other than the studio here at Marvel, and I started talking about how we have this mutual love of animation and also pushing that wall," the Marvel TV president explained in the interview with the news site.

"The idea of doing something that was more adult, some of which was started with the idea of doing Deadpool animated," Loeb continued, "What we really liked was the notion of putting together a group of titles that could then be a group, as we had done with Defenders."

Loeb didn't really go into that much detail about these "group of titles," but we're definitely excited to learn more about the shows. Marvel's focus has been mostly on live-action films and series, it would be interesting to see the brand make a return to animation. Marvel used to focus a lot on cartoons on television before – it would only be fitting to see Marvel TV produce mature animated series for its adult Marvel fans.

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins with the release of Black Widow on May 1, 2020.
