It's only been a few months since the release of Avengers: Endgame but fans are already hoping that Marvel Studios will confirm a fifth Avengers film. Unfortunately, it might be a long wait. Endgame producer Trinh Tran has confirmed that the studio will take its time before working on a possible New Avengers.
Tran recently spoke to Cinemablend about the future of Marvel and she confirmed that they aren't keen to work on Avengers 5 right away. After all, they still have to work on their current Phase 4 line-up.
"Our focus right now is to make sure that the titles that we've released in Phase 4… obviously those stories are going to be new, exciting, different and can connect with the audience like the other movies have been," Tran said.
Tran was also quick to point out that they still have plans to pursue a larger project in the future but it could take another decade before they could come up with something that's the same level as Endgame or Avengers: Infinity War.
"Now it'd be amazing if we could get to that level 10 years later, so I think it's a dream to continue doing that and build upon the MCU and the connective tissue that we have," Tran said. "And now with obviously our Disney+ side and the shows and how our characters are venturing into that world and how that's gonna lead to the future and more franchises and more stories and more properties and their connective tissue to the rest of the MCU, it would be amazing to do something like this 10 years later."
It's important to remember that Marvel started off slow with the Infinity Saga, gradually introducing the heroes in their own films. It wasn't until 2012 that the first Avengers movie was released so it's understandable why Marvel wants to focus on smaller projects for now. Nevertheless, we are hoping to get some update on Avengers 5 really soon.
The next Marvel Cinematic Universe film is Black Widow, which is scheduled for release on May 1, 2020.
