The merger that will change everything is almost upon us and it looks like Disney isn't wasting any time at all. A new report suggests that Marvel will be working on an Avengers Vs. X-Men film as soon as the Fox deal is closed.
The Disney/Fox merger is truly an exciting issue for fans who have been speculating that we will finally see the Marvel Studios characters going head to head with the mutants in the X-Men Universe. According to We Got This Covered, a source has revealed that an Avengers Vs. X-Men movie is "on the cards" and could be Marvel's next Avengers: Infinity War-level project.
It's certainly something to look forward to but people might need to wait a bit longer before the crossover actually happens. The report also points out that Marvel "will begin building to it" once the Fox deal is closed. This could mean that the studio will first release a few X-Men films that will build up to the crossover.
The move certainly makes sense considering that Marvel Studios doesn't have a lot of projects lined up in the following year. Perhaps Disney is indeed making way for the X-Men so the crossover will gain momentum.
Fox is still set to release one more X-Men film this year. Dark Phoenix is already expected to be the studio's final X-Men movie which means that The New Mutants could eventually be released by Marvel. However, that has yet to be confirmed so we recommend taking it with a grain of salt.
Dark Phoenix hits theaters on June 7.
