House of X and Powers of X have not even come out yet but Marvel has already announced the new slate of X-Men comics coming out of Jonathan Hickman's two series' and we are more than excited for them. It's clear that Hickman is going to set up a ton of new stories and this is going to be an epic era of X-Men comics, which will likely make people forget Matthew Rosenberg's current run (which isn't horrible but has way too many deaths).
The first series that's noteworthy is simply called X-Men and will be written by Hickman himself, with veteran artist Leinil Yu providing interior art. Fans will be pleased to know that this will be a Summers family affair, plus Wolverine. Yeah, Jean Grey and Rachel Grey are there too but they can technically be considered part of the same family.
Next, Tini Howard and Marcus To will be working on a new version of Excalibur. This has one of the more interesting rosters, with Betsy Braddock now taking up the role of Captain Britain. Rogue, Gambit, Jubilee, Rictor, and Apocalypse (weird, I know) will help her protect the various worlds of Marvel.
Marauders looks like a spin-off book from Sina Grace's Iceman comic, featuring the proud LGBTQ hero himself, Shadowcat, Emma Frost, Bishop, Storm, and Pyro. It'll be written by Deadpool and Uncanny Avengers writer Gerry Duggan, while Matteo Lolli draws the series.
Hickman will co-write New Mutants with Ed Brisson, while Secret Empire artist Rod Reis will provide interiors. Judging from the roster, it looks like most of Rosenberg's X-Men deaths will be undone.
Bryan Edward Hill of Detective Comics fame will write Fallen Angels, which starts Psylocke, Kid Cable, and X-23. Szymon Kundraski is the artist for this. The series could be interesting since these characters aren't sure about this "new world" of mutants.
X-Force is written by former Green Arrow scribe Benjamin Percy with art from Joshua Cassara. This has one of the most interesting rosters, with Jean Grey and Wolverine from Hickman's X-Men joining in. Sage, Domino, and Kid Omega are also part of this team.
What are your thoughts on all these new X-Men comics?
