Mahershala Ali Kills It As Marvel’s Blade In New Image

Fans were quite surprised when Marvel announced that it had cast Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new Blade. Sure, there had been campaigns asking for Marvel to reboot the Blade film franchise, but fans were still hoping that the studio would bring in the original daywalker, Wesley Snipes.

Of course, fans have nothing to worry about. Ali seems more than up to the task to become Marvel's new vampire-slayer. Not only does the Green Book and Moonlight star have powerful acting chops, but he also has comic book experience, appearing in the Marvel Netflix series Luke Cage as the villain Cottonmouth.

Excitedly waiting to see Ali take on his new role as Eric Brooks, fans have decided to make new art of the actor as Blade. A new fan-made poster of Ali as everyone's favorite daywalker has been making the rounds on Reddit and we've got to say, it looks pretty stunning. Ali looks every bit a vampire slayer with his long, black trench coat, round black glasses, and custom made sword.

Right now there are very few details about Marvel's Blade reboot. Marvel decided to reserve the film for its Phase 5 roster, meaning that the film could very well release sometime in 2022 at the earliest. Right now, Marvel is busy working on its Phase 4 slate of movies which includes Black Widow, The Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder.

Black Widow is set to kick off Phase 4 of the MCU when it hits cinemas on May 1, 2020.
