A new report suggested that Lucasfilm is planning to produce multiple seasons of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

The upcoming Star Wars series will focus on a group of young characters and a Force user played by Jude Law as they end up on an adventure to find their way home after being lost in the galaxy far, far away.

Fans have been wondering whether the series will be a one-off (which is what some rumors have suggested) or if it will run for more seasons similar to The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.

A recent report that explored the current state of the Star Wars franchise under the ownership of Disney revealed Lucasfilm's plan for the future of Skeleton Crew.

While showrunners Jon Watts and Christopher Ford have suggested that they were aiming to do a one-off, the studio is open to doing more seasons depending on the ratings.

This is a similar situation with The Acolyte where its showrunner had plans for more seasons, but Lucasfilm ultimately pulled the plug after the first season received divisive critical reception and underwhelming viewership.

As we're still a few months away from its release, it's hard to tell what kind of reception the series might get, especially as it will focus on new characters and doesn't have strong connections to the other Star Wars shows.

However, given that the series is a more youth-oriented and fresh story than the franchise has done before, they might be able to attract new viewers that don't regularly watch the Disney+ shows.

It would be interesting to see whether this ends up being a success when it premieres this holiday season or if it will have the same reception as The Acolyte, which is the kind of result that they are not hoping for.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is set to premiere with two episodes this December 3.
