Lucasfilm is reportedly changing its release strategy for the Star Wars live-action shows on Disney+.

Since the streaming platform's launch in 2019, the studio has been producing multiple Star Wars live-action shows for the service to varying results as some shows achieved major success while some have disappointing reception.

With the recent cancellation of The Acolyte and the lack of updates on other Star Wars live-action shows, fans have been wondering whether this is a sign that Lucasfilm is slowing down on their development for that type of project.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Lucasfilm is planning to reduce the number of Star Wars live-action shows that they are releasing on Disney+ per year.

Starting in 2025, the plan is to only release one Star Wars live-action show in a year. They noted that they are still developing several TV projects at the moment.

So far, Lucasfilm and Disney+ have not confirmed the claims that were made in the report.

If the scoop ends up being true, this might explain why there has been a lack of updates on Lucasfilm's future plans for the Star Wars live-action shows aside from what is currently in the works.

As far as we know, there are only two live-action TV projects that are currently in post-production and are slated for release soon: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and Andor season 2. The former is slated to premiere before the end of this year.

If they are indeed implementing the strategy, it would mean that Andor season 2 will be the only Star Wars live-action show that will be released next year.

Recently, we heard that Ahsoka season 2 is set to begin production in the summer of next year, which would mean that it will likely premiere by 2026 and take the slot for that year.

For now, let's wait and see if Lucasfilm will follow this alleged new strategy, but at this point, it would not be surprising if that is indeed the case based on the current state of the Star Wars franchise and Lucasfilm.
