Probably one of the characters in Game of Thrones that managed to be consistent until the end was the Onion Knight Ser Davos Seaworth, and he was played wonderfully by Liam Cunningham. With all the blame going on David Benioff and D.B. Weiss about the final season, Cunningham reveals things could have been much worse.
As Cunningham reveals, the showrunners had intended to have Davos have a crush on Daenerys' servant Missandei; to which Cunningham refused. He said, "Im not fucking doing it ... You're not undoing my hard work engendering the sympathy of the audience to have him be a perv."
From Daenerys the Mad Queen to Tyrion losing his witticisms, it's curious just how much D&D really wanted to put into the show that didn't make the cut. Good thing that Cunningham had the nerve to stand up for his character or else I'm sure everyone would have also been complaining about it to no end.
Though Game of Thrones may be done, we still have a lot more to expect from HBO when it comes to Westeros. As of now, the network is developing a Targaryen-centric spinoff called The House of the Dragon which is set hundreds of years before the events of the original series. And while we don't have a release date, people are still hoping for the actual ending of the story from George R.R. Martin's book, The Winds of Winter.
Who knows, maybe in a decade HBO will be ready to make the more faithful Game of Thrones: Brotherhood which will be more accurate to the books this time.
For now, the spinoff House of the Dragon is expected to come to HBO sometime in 2022.
