DC Studios has finally cast the actor who will play Hal Jordan in DCU's highly-anticipated Green Lantern Corps series Lanterns.
For the past few weeks, we've been hearing reports regarding the casting of the fan-favorite Green Lantern character as Josh Brolin was offered to play the role in the DCU series. However, he passed on the opportunity.
Other actors reportedly in contention are Ewan McGregor and Matthew McConaughey, but none of them have come to fruition. Fortunately, they have finally found a veteran actor who will take on the iconic DC role.
Kyle Chandler Cast as Hal Jordan in Lanterns Series
Reports have confirmed that Friday Night Lights and Bloodline star Kyle Chandler is set to play Hal Jordan in Lanterns.
This exciting news comes after weeks of casting process on the fan-favorite character. DC Studios is still looking for an actor who will play John Stewart opposite Chandler.
Production will begin production in Atlanta from January to June of next year. The True Detective-inspired series will focus on the two Green Lantern Corps members as they investigate an Earth-bound murder with larger implications.
Interestingly, there is no movie component included in Chandler's deal when he signed on to the project so there is no guarantee that we will see his Hal Jordan on the big screen.
DC fans have weighed in on Chandler's casting and, fortunately, the responses are mostly positive as they support the idea of the Emmy winner playing the fan-favorite Green Lantern even if he's not the top choice for them.
Here are some of the reaction posts from fans on X:
Now, all eyes are on who DC Studios will cast to play John Stewart, and what kind of chemistry that actor will have with Chandler's Hal Jordan. We should be hearing more news and updates regarding this soon.
