It's official, Ben Affleck is out and Matt Reeves is looking for someone younger to star in his Batman movie. Everyone is scrambling online to find out who should replace Affleck, and a studio wishlist has found its way online.
According to The GWW, the wishlist for young Bruce Wayne includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Dark Phoenix), Jack O'Connell (Godless), Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), and Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction).
It's worth noting that none of the names here have been confirmed, so we should take it with a big grain of salt.
When it comes to whoever is playing the new Batman, a lot of other actors have had their names pop up in rumors. There was a rumor going around that Twilight star Robert Pattinson was being considered for the role; a fan-favorite choice has also been Armie Hammer, who has since confirmed that he had not been approached for anything.
Going back to the cast list, I think Taylor-Johnson and Hoult have a slim chance in landing the role, seeing as they have had prominent roles in other franchise films. Hoult has been starring in the X-Men films as Beast ever since First Class, and Taylor-Johnson was Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron (aside from playing Kick-Ass).
WB is said to be long for a familiar face to take on the role, so it's very likely that whoever gets cast is already kind of famous. It's just a question of who.
Catch The Batman when it hits theaters June 25, 2021.
