Director Kevin Smith's always been a big Marvel fan, and now that Marvel Studios has released Avengers: Endgame on Digital HD, the pop culture connoisseur has been busy rewatching the epic comic book movie.
Taking to Twitter, Smith couldn't help but share a few thoughts after reviewing the film, giving Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) a pretty loud shout out. According to the filmmaker, Wanda Maximoff might have actually been the closest Avenger to kill Thanos (Josh Brolin), saying that the Mad Titan would have been killed if he hadn't called for "Rain Fire" on Scarlet Witch.
"SPOILERS! Watched @Avengers twice today. Out of everyone who fought Thanos, Wanda came closest to killing him. If he didn't call for the ‘Rain fire!' then the Scarlet Witch would have butchered the Mad Titan. (Even though I turn 49 on Friday, shit like this still matters to me.)," Smith wrote on his post.
Marvel fans couldn't help but agree with Smith. Thanos wouldn't have been able to escape from Scarlet Witch's wrath had the Mad Titan not rained fire on the Avenger and on his own men.
Of course, comic book readers know that Scarlett Witch is an exceptionally strong sorceress. Though Marvel has tweaked her origin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the studio seems like it's trying to showcase more of Scarlet Witch's powers so that it can prepare fans for WandaVision, a Disney+ series which is speculated to feature a story arc similar to the House of M comics.
Avengers: Endgame is currently available on Digital HD.
