After Kevin Feige revealed that an MCU Fantastic Four film was already in production, the head of Marvel Studios teased something about "mutants," getting everyone giddy about the X-Men. Well, thanks to a report from Deadline, it looks like Feige officially has full control of Fox's Marvel properties, including the X-Men and Deadpool.
Emma Watts used to have full control of these characters when they were under Fox but now that Disney has bought the company, she has forfeited the rights to them. Rumors speculated that Watts would be leaving Disney/Fox for Paramount since she has a friendly relationship with Paramount Pictures. However, Watts will still be in charge of James Cameron's Avatar sequels so she will be important for future interactions with Cameron.
Now that Feige has control of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool, the sky's the limit. While Fox actually did well with Deadpool and X-Men (mostly) the studio never really figured out what to do with Marvel's First Family. We'll probably get a third Deadpool film in the future since the first two made a ton of money, despite being R-rated.
It will be interesting to see how Feige handles the mutants now that Fox is under Disney. Here is hoping that they get the love they deserve.
