Kevin Feige Denies Marvel Suffering From “Superhero Fatigue”

MCU fans may have been kept “well-fed” due to the large number of Marvel films and series releases over the years where nine titles came out in 2021, and eight in 2022 as part of Marvel Phase Four. However, it is exactly due to the overwhelming releases that fans have gained a “Superhero Fatigue” or “Marvel Fatigue”, specifically. As a result, Marvel Phase Five is reportedly cutting off its quantity of releases for fans.

Simultaneously, Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige opens up in an interview on The Movie Business Podcast that this is not the first time the superhero fatigue was encountered. Check out his full quote below:

“I’ve been at Marvel Studios for 22 years now,” Feige said, “Over 22 years, and most of us here at Marvel Studios have been around a decade or longer together. And from probably my second year at Marvel, people were asking, “Well, how long is this going to last? Is this fad of comic book movies going to end?” And I didn’t really understand the question.”

Feige continues on to say encouraging news on the future of the MCU, comparing it to that of the regularity of novel adaptations into films: “Because, to me, it was akin to saying after Gone With The Wind, “Well, how many more movies can be made off of novels? Do you think the audience will sour on movies being adapted from books?”

Given that even after the passing of Stan Lee, Marvel comic books continue on the legacy by introducing more character arcs and superheroes that have yet to grace our screens with live-action, Feige’s word would definitely hype up and reassure fans that the future of Marvel Phase Five has just begun, and has no plans of halting for any kind of reason.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opens Marvel Phase Five on February 17 this year.
