John Boyega isn't one to mince his words when speaking about his time in the Star Wars franchise. The sequel trilogy actor has made headlines in the past for airing his grievances towards Lucasfilm's mishandling of his character Finn and the racism he faced during his tenure.

Now, nearly six years after the end of the sequel trilogy, it looks like Boyega still has a bone to pick with Disney and Lucasfilm, and in a new documentary, the 33-year-old has once again fired shots at his unpleasant experiences working on Star Wars.

Appearing on the new AppleTV+ two-part documentary Number One on the Call Sheet (via People), the British actor looked back on his time in Star Wars, saying it "always had the vibe of being in the most Whitest, elite space."

He said: "It's a franchise that's so White that it's like, a Black person existing in [it] was something."

"You can always tell it's something when some Star Wars fans try to say, 'Well, we had Lando Calrissian [played on the big screen by Billy Dee Williams and Donald Glover] and had Samuel L. Jackson [who played Mace Windu]!'," Boyega added.

He continued: "It's like telling me how many [chocolate] chips are in the cookie dough. It's like, they just scattered that in there, bro!"

Speaking about Star Wars' fanbase, Boyega had this to say: "They're okay with us playing the best friend, but once we touch their heroes, once we lead, once we trailblaze, it's like, 'Oh my God, it's just a bit too much! They're pandering!'"

Will We Ever See Finn Return to a Galaxy Far, Far Away?

Considering Lucasfilm is currently working on a film set post-The Rise of Skywalker headlined by the returning Daisy Ridley, fans are hopeful that familiar faces from the sequels will also make appearances.

While Boyega has yet to address his potential involvement in the New Jedi Order project, Ridley would love to see a reunion between Rey and Finn. In a 2024 interview, she said: "Absolutely, of course. It feels like we should, yeah".

Of course, only time will tell if Boyega will once again be open to the prospect of rejoining the franchise, and while things aren't looking positive at the moment, you can never say never.
