Marvel fans' collective jaws dropped when Spider-Man: Far From Home brought back J.K. Simmons to reprise sleazy news editor J. Jonah Jameson, and though he only had a brief appearance in the film, we should be expecting more of the Daily Bugle's Spider-Man hater down the line.
Talking to SiriusXM, Simmons has confirmed that he's already finished his next role as J.J., and he's looking forward to reprising the character in the future. He says:
There is a future for J. Jonah Jameson after a several-year hiatus. Obviously I showed up very briefly for those who were wise enough to stay through the end-credits in Far from Home… There is one more J.J.J. appearance in the can, and from what I'm hearing, there is a plan for a yet another one, so hopefully J.J.J. will continue now and forever.
While not officially announced, it's said that Simmons will be reprising the role of J.J. Jameson in the upcoming Morbius movie. With Sony being more adamant about the Spider-Verse's connection to the MCU, they are now going all out with connecting films like Morbius and Venom to the world of Peter Parker. We don't know what Jameson's role will be exactly, but I'm hoping that Peter eventually ends up working for him one way or another. I'd actually love to see more of him than just the news reports with a desk.
For now, the Spider-Verse is set to return when Morbius comes out on March 18, 2021.
