James Gunn Wants to Re-Release Guardians of the Galaxy With a Few Changes

With Marvel re-releasing Avengers: Endgame to beat Avatar and Sony doing the same for Spider-Man: Far From Home to make more money, movie re-releases are becoming more popular than ever. This is a blessing and a curse since it gives people a chance to check out a well-liked film they missed out on but also takes away schedules from other movies that might need it.

It seems like James Gunn wants in on the action, or, at the least, would like to release a director's recut of Guardians of the Galaxy. While Gunn doesn't have too many problems with the final product released in theaters, he does have some regrets when it comes to cutting certain scenes and would like to re-release the film with a few tweaks in the future.

Gunn revealed this desire to some fans on Twitter, though it's clear that this is more wishful thinking on his part and not something seriously being considered. Apparently, Gunn wants to put a montage he cut with the song Livin Thing, which he regrets removing. He also wants to change a few things but they don't appear to be major.

Depending on who you ask, the Guardians of the Galaxy films are either amazing or overrated. Personally, I think the first one was a solid MCU film while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is underappreciated and has actually gotten better with age. Sure, the jokes aren't always great but it easily has some of the best character work in the MCU.

Both Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are now available on Blu-Ray and DVD. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will start production after The Suicide Squad.
