James Gunn Reveals Which Song Will NOT Appear In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3

It might still be a long wait for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but people are already hounding James Gunn about the upcoming sequel's soundtrack. Interestingly, the Suicide Squad director has just revealed which song will not be featured in his next Marvel Cinematic Universe flick.

A fan reached out to Gunn on Twitter begging for the song Dancing In The Moonlight to be featured in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The filmmaker has responded to the tweet and gave a lengthy explanation of why the tune will never be played in the MCU movie.

"I'm asked to include this song BY FAR more than any other. And this predictability is precisely why I'd never use it. In general, I'd rather be in the business of giving folks the thing they want that they don't know they want rather than just the thing they know they want," Gunn wrote. He later added, "And this extends to nearly every aspect of filmmaking."

First of all, I'm not sure if he's referring to the 1972 single by King Harvest or the 1977 tune by Thin Lizzy (which has the subtitle It's Caught Me In The Spotlight). After all, either song might seem like a sensible option for the Guardians soundtrack. But since the former has been covered several times in the past, it's possible that it's the one Gunn is talking about. In the meantime, you can listen to Toploader's cover of the song below.

Although it's unlikely that Dancing In The Moonlight will be in Vol. 3, it was actually featured in the 2017 video game.
