Ryan Reynolds has sent fans into a frenzy by hinting at a collaboration between his superhero character Deadpool and the Avengers in an Instagram post amid the production of Avengers: Doomsday. While this news has genuinely excited fans, his return could pose a challenge for Marvel Studios.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige once hinted that the stellar cast announced for Doomsday is only halfway complete. That said, more additions—including potentially Reynolds—may be coming, though that remains to be seen.
With Robert Downey Jr. and other well-known Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) stars, alongside X-Men actors Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, and James Marsden, among others, adding Reynolds could overwhelm the movie’s production due to the sheer number of characters involved. However, that’s not the only problem the studio may face.
Why Adding Ryan Reynolds to the Cast of Avengers: Doomsday Could be a Problem for Marvel?

Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, is known for dropping plenty of F-bombs. While this has been an issue for his addition to the MCU, it was previously addressed with his R-rated film Deadpool & Wolverine.
However, Doomsday is expected to be more family-friendly, with all previous Avengers movies—The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame—being PG-13. Could Doomsday maintain a similar rating with Deadpool in the mix?
If Deadpool does join the fifth Avengers movie, the Russo brothers will need to find a way to keep the film wholesome while accommodating the Merc with a Mouth.
Wade will have to tone down the F-bombs and limit the lethal decapitations seen in his movie franchise. There can be no d*** jokes or cocaine references like in Deadpool & Wolverine.
He will also need to play as part of a team rather than taking the lead. Sure, he’s always a scene-stealer, but things will be different when he joins the Avengers.
If the Russo brothers and Marvel Studios manage to pull this off, Deadpool’s return in Doomsday will be highly anticipated, making the film a true must-see as he joins Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Will Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool Be in Avengers: Doomsday?
Reynolds hinted that he could appear in Doomsday when he shared a cryptic Instagram post featuring a graffiti-style Avengers logo. The actor didn’t include a caption.
The logo in question was originally seen on a flag in Deadpool & Wolverine, opposite Hugh Jackman, who reprised his role as the adamantium superhero after the 2017 film Logan. The flag appeared in the scene where Deadpool and Wolverine were captured in The Void.
While Reynolds hasn’t been officially announced as part of the film, Marvel Studios teased that “there’s always room for more.”
In fact, when the studio unveiled the cast members’ names during an hours-long live stream in March, it hinted that the list was not yet complete—meaning more actors could still join Doomsday.
Now that Deadpool is officially part of the MCU, and considering that Deadpool & Wolverine included a scene where Deadpool was at the hands of a crying Thor (Chris Hemsworth), his appearance in Doomsday seems increasingly plausible.
Doomsday is slated to premiere on December 18, 2026.
