Is Ariana Grande Quitting Pop Music for Theater? Pop Star Clears the Air

The "yes and?" pop singer revealed she has been reflecting on her future career as a singer in Hollywood.

During the conversation on the November 6 episode of Las Culturistas podcast with Wicked co-star Bowen Yang, she admits that playing the Good Witch Glinda in the musical made her rethink shifting careers from pop music to musical theater.

"It is my heart," Ariana said, adding that while it could 'scare the absolute sh*t' out of her fans to think that she'll quit music, that's not it at all.

"I'm always going to make music, I'm always going to go on stage, I'm always going to do pop stuff, I pinky promise."

However, Ariana Grande's fans should note that the multi-award-winning singer has other plans in mind for the next decade of her life.

What the Pop Star Sees in Her Career for the Next Ten Years

"...But I don't think doing [pop songs] at the rate I've been doing it for the past 10 years is where I see the next 10 years," Ariana clarified.

Before rising to fame, the "Thank You, Next" singer was initially Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious and had kickstarted her musical career as a theater kid in 13: The Musical where she played cheerleader Charlotte.

So it makes sense that being brought back to the same spotlight would 'reconnect her' to a 'part of herself' that began in theater, as she said so herself.

As Ariana explained, "Whatever makes sense, or whatever roles we see fit, or where I could really do a good job or honor the material, I would really love to. I think it's a lot better for me."

Though that's not to say she won't miss the Ariana Grande image she built over her initial years, "I'm getting emotional."
