Showrunner Michael Patrick King surprised Sex and the City fans with the unexpected announcement that And Just Like That will conclude with Season 3, just weeks before the finale.
Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) has finally found the ending to her story that she’s been searching for since the franchise began in 1998.
But is this truly the end of Carrie’s diary? Read on to know more.
Will There be And Just Like That Season 4?

On August 1, King announced that And Just Like That Season 3 would be the final chapter of the Sex and the City spinoff.
Despite mixed reception and declining viewership, the decision was described as a creative choice.
“And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end,” he wrote. “While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That Season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.”
The writer-director wasn’t alone in making the decision. He revealed that he collaborated with Sarah Jessica Parker, HBO CEO Casey Bloys, and HBO Max head of originals Sarah Aubrey.
“SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season,” he continued. “It’s with great gratitude that we thank all the viewers who have welcomed these characters into their homes and hearts over the years.”
This decision was also the reason Season 3 was extended from 10 episodes to 12.
So, is there any chance the show could continue? From all indications, it seems this truly marks the end of Carrie, Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), and Miranda Hobbes’ (Cynthia Nixon) stories.
In an interview with The Wrap, King said that “everyone’s in a good place” at the conclusion of the series.
“Everyone’s in a good place to leave them so that the audience can continue their fan fiction of what they want to have happen next,” he explained.
While it may feel abrupt to end the series, he felt “like it’s the right decision for the world that we created.”
What Will Happen to Carrie Bradshaw After And Just Like That Season 3?

Despite King’s announcement, fans can’t help but hope that And Just Like That might be renewed for Season 4.
Their hopes were fueled when the preview for Episode 12 was labeled “season finale” rather than “series finale.”
While this could simply have been an oversight on HBO Max’s part, anything is possible in the world of Carrie.
Sure, a continuation seems unlikely, but there may still be a chance for Sex and the City 3 to happen. The first two Sex and the City feature films were huge successes, sparking speculation about a third movie.
Although Carrie announced in 2017 that a third film wouldn’t happen, And Just Like That eventually came to life. So who knows—Carrie’s story may still continue in the future.
