House of the Dragon Season 2 Introduces New Key Character
Alyn di Hull (played by Abubakar Salim) is known to be the man who saved Corlys Velaryon's (Steve Toussaint) life at sea in House of the Dragon season 2, but he serves a far more important role in his storyline.
In episode 4 titled The Red Dragon and the Gold, Rhaenys Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon's conversation reveals the mystery that has been cooking up the future of the series.
Without directly stating it, the recent episode basically hinted to viewers that Alyn is Corlys' son to another woman named Marilda of Hull.
Considering how common "bastards" were in Westeros, it's about time that Corlys made use of Alyn in setting up the new heir of Driftmark.
Bastards of any kind could only ever hope to serve their father right by bringing something essential to their table. In this case, Alyn of Hull holds a crucial role in the future of Corlys Verlaryon.
But is this enough to say that Alyn truly is Corlys' son?

Is Alyn Corlys' Son? What the Series is Leading Up To
Based on the novel that House of the Dragon season 2 is based on, Fire & Blood, Alyn of Hull was a legitimized bastard of dragonseed descent, with his brother, Ser Addam Velaryon, as a dragonrider — both of which indicate they are illegitimate children born to fathers with Valyrian blood.
Alyn and Addam were able to prove themselves over time; Addam managed to win over Laenor Velaryon's old dragon, Seasmoke.
Alyn, on the other hand, had won his case by being fortunate enough to live even after being flamed by Seasmoke and Sheepstealer.
Not long after, Corlys petitioned Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen to legitimize both of his sons, which she complied with. Addam Velaryon was named heir to Driftmark.
However, when Addam dies, this leaves Alyn as the sole inheritor of Driftmark.
With how the fourth episode sends Rhaenys to her death, Corlys is only left with his two sons. It remains to be seen how closely the series will follow the events of the novel, but a similar plotline would be likely shown soon enough.
