I'm in Love with the Villainess is one of the big romance anime of Fall 2023. The story of Rae and Claire will be a hit with yuri anime fans, but will I'm in Love with the Villainess get the English dub treatment?
The series follows Rei Oohashi, an exhausted office worker who wakes up to find herself in the body of her favourite otome game's protagonist, Rae Taylor.
However, instead of being interested in romancing the potential male partners, she has her eyes set on the antagonist, noblewoman Claire François!
More anime are being dubbed than ever before, but many smaller series still don't get English dubs, at least not immediately. Thankfully, that's not the case with I'm in Love with the Villainess.
I'm in Love with the Villainess English Dub is Released!
Crunchyroll revealed I'm in Love with the Villainess as part of its dub plans for the Fall 2023 season.
However, they've since gone one step further and announced that the series will get a rare Crunchyroll simuldub!
Traditionally, Crunchyroll's English dubs are released around one month after the show's simulcast premiere. However, some recent releases have been slightly earlier.
Last season, many of Crunchyroll's romance dubs were released two weeks after the first episode premiered. Fans of Horimiya: The Missing Pieces, Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 3 and My Tiny Senpai all got to watch the shows with English VAs a fortnight after the simulcast premiere.
Very few Crunchyroll series get English dubs roughly in line with the subtitled release – Tomo-chan was a prominent example from last year.
The fact that Villainess is getting such special treatment shows the potential they see in the series.
