- Quick Answer: Hugh Jackman has neither confirmed nor denied returning as Wolverine in Avengers: Secret Wars, teasing strict Marvel NDAs while leaving the door open for a multiverse return.
Hugh Jackman has broken his silence on his potential MCU return as Wolverine in Avengers: Secret Wars after denying that he would appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
The Australian actor officially joined the MCU when he teamed up with Ryan Reynolds in the 2024 hit movie Deadpool & Wolverine, opening the door for the two titular characters to appear in the Multiverse Saga finale after they destroyed the Time Ripper and saved their universes from destruction.
With Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige yet to confirm Jackman’s appearance in either Avengers movie, will the actor at least return in Secret Wars?
Will Hugh Jackman Be in Avengers: Secret Wars?

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have been trolling fans, as neither has confirmed nor denied their appearance in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
In fact, Kevin Feige has also joined the two actors in teasing their potential return without confirming anything.
Now, the Logan actor has addressed the possibility of reprising his role as Wolverine in Secret Wars, though he is still playing coy about it.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Jackman told Variety. “I do have an internal chip that is not metaphorical. There’s a literal chip, and if I say the wrong thing, I get shut down. I don’t know who controls that chip, but someone is controlling it.”
While Jackman may not mean this literally, Marvel actors are known to be bound by strict nondisclosure agreements (NDAs), which are reportedly among the most restrictive in the film industry.
If Jackman does appear in Doomsday or Secret Wars, he won’t be the first Marvel actor to deny involvement in an MCU movie. Andrew Garfield is perhaps the most famous example, having repeatedly denied his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home despite ultimately playing a major role in the film.
These NDAs restrict actors from discussing confidential casting details, including confirming their roles or participation in an MCU project. Violating such agreements can have serious consequences, depending on the terms of the contract.
Is There a Chance for Hugh Jackman to Be in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars?

Hugh Jackman has repeatedly denied being cast in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, given that the TVA is expected to appear in the upcoming Avengers film after working with Deadpool and Wolverine in their 2024 film, and with incursions looming, Logan and Wade Wilson’s universe, Earth-10005, could end up fighting the heroes of the MCU’s Earth-616.
Additionally, with the original Fox X-Men cast returning, including Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), it seems unlikely that Jackman, a major part of the group, would be left out.
Sure, Deadpool & Wolverine introduced a potential way for its titular characters to survive a multiversal disaster, but this could also pave the way for them to join other heroes or alternate versions of Marvel characters in the upcoming Avengers films.
So, while Jackman may not appear in Doomsday, there is still a chance he could return as Wolverine in Secret Wars alongside Ryan Reynolds.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
