Hideo Kojima Open To Developing Death Stranding Sequels

Death Stranding might have a month more to go before it releases on PlayStation 4, but it looks like the videogame's creator, Hideo Kojima, already has a few sequels in mind to help continue the game's story.

Speaking in an interview with Game Spot to help promote his upcoming videogame, Kojima was asked about his plans for Death Stranding now that the title is close to its official launch. Though the game is going to have elements similar to other games, Kojima told fans that Death Stranding would be considered part of a "totally brand new genre."

While the videogame developer isn't quite sure whether he's going to turn Death Stranding into a series, Kojima seems to be open to the idea of developing sequels to the title.

"The most difficult part is, when you create something new, you have to create a sequel and then a third version or it [will] not remain as a genre," Kojima told the publication. "When this game comes out there will be a lot of pros and cons, and (these elements could become the essence of the core part), but I think it's better that I keep it going in a sequel."

Death Stranding was shrouded in mystery for quite a long time, but Kojima recently revealed that the videogame is supposed to be a new type of action game that's bound by the theme of the "Strand," a term the developer uses for connection.

Death Stranding is scheduled to release on PlayStation 4 on November 8, 2019.
