Henry Cavill has finally addressed his surprise cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine for the first time since the film's release.

The former Superman actor made a shocking appearance in the MCU film which delighted many fans as they didn't expect him to show up as a Wolverine variant right after his tenure as the Man of Steel ended.

While it remains to be seen whether the "Cavillrine" cameo will lead to more MCU appearances in the future, some fans have already theorized that this might be a tease on the Earth-616 version of Wolverine.

Henry Cavill Breaks Silence on Deadpool & Wolverine Cameo

In his recent post on Instagram, Cavill addressed his cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine by sharing an official photo of the "Cavillrine."

"To be safe, I shaved the moustache off for this one. Just the moustache," he wrote in his caption.

As most fans might recognize, Cavill's joke in the caption is a reference to his controversial mustache during the reshoots of Justice League which became a subject of ridicule for fans.

Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy revealed in a recent interview how they came up with the idea of bringing Cavill on board to play a Wolverine variant.

"It was the first day of shooting and it was born of the reality which is who on earth do you cast? I can't think of a more impossible and frustrating role to recast than Wolverine. I don't know," Reynolds shared.

"As an actor, it would be awful and intimidating, and you'd need to take it in a different way. But if you had to do it, and replace the guy who's made it canon in every way, shape, and form on-screen and off wasn't available, Henry Cavill would be pretty good!"

Fortunately for fans and the people involved in the film, Cavill immediately said yes to the opportunity.

Levy recalled, "That idea was hatched by Ryan, named by Ryan in that same instance, and it was not long after the Superman-DC shuffling of the deck, and it was just on our minds and then it was the idea, the name, a text and an answer, all in 15 minutes."

Deadpool & Wolverine is showing in theaters everywhere.
