Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy recently opened up about how they got Henry Cavill on board to make a cameo in the movie.

The former Superman actor made a shocking appearance in the MCU film as a Wolverine variant dubbed the "Cavillrine." A lot of fans were delighted to see him show up as a different version of the iconic Marvel character.

There have been questions since its release about how they got Cavill to agree to make the cameo and, as it turns out, the actor was not hesitant at all in joining the MCU film.

In a recent interview, Levy explained how they recruited Cavill to cameo as a Wolverine variant in Deadpool & Wolverine.

He revealed that the ex-Superman actor said "yes" right away when they offered him and he understood that his appearance fits in the "subversive" and "playful" tone of the movie.

"I knew it was undeniable as soon as Ryan came up with that [Cavillrine] term. He said 'yes' right away because he knew it would be subversive and playful," the director said.

"It was also with a lot of affection for him and his body of work, and playing with his legacy as a DC hero now that he’s appearing as a variant of a Marvel hero."

Cavill also addressed his surprise cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine on his recent Instagram post where he made a joking reference to his controversial Justice League mustache in the caption.

"To be safe, I shaved the moustache off for this one. Just the moustache," he wrote in the caption that accompanied the photo of his Cavillrine look.

It is truly surreal for fans to see Cavill become part of an MCU movie even for just a brief moment, especially playing a variant of one of the most iconic characters in the Marvel library.

While it remains to be seen whether this will lead to potentially becoming the Earth-616's Wolverine (as some fans have theorized), at the very least, we finally have our glimpse of what Cavill's take on the character would have looked like.

Deadpool & Wolverine is showing in theaters everywhere.
