As the first season of the TV series version of the J.K. Rowling novels is set to premiere this Christmas, the production team is already preparing for filming of the second season, which will cover Chamber of Secrets. The role of Gilderoy Lockhart has already been cast, and now they have also tapped an actor for the fan-favorite role of Dobby.
Who Will Play Dobby in HBO's Harry Potter Season 2?
Deadline confirmed that 17-year-old actor Lenny Rush has been cast to play Dobby in the second season of HBO's Harry Potter TV series.
In case you're not familiar, Dobby is a male house-elf who initially served the Malfoy family before he became close with Harry and became fiercely loyal to him due to his kind treatment. He was first introduced in Chamber of Secrets.
The role was voiced by Toby Jones in the movie version, where he was presented as a CGI character.
It remains unknown whether Rush will be playing the role through voice performance, motion-capture performance, or physically with prosthetic makeup.
Aside from Rush, other roles that have also been cast for the second season are Billy Barratt, who will be playing Tom Riddle (aka young Voldemort), and Bonnie Hill, who will play Ginny Weasley.
Gracie Cochrane originally played Ginny in the first season, which was filmed from last year to months ago, but she decided to not return in the second season.
