Nicholas Hoult has exited the second season of HBO's TV series adaptation of Harry Potter, with Kit Harington taking over his role.

A few weeks ago, we learned the news that the Superman star was cast in the upcoming show's second season to play the villainous Gilderoy Lockhart. His casting was met with both enthusiasm and disappointment, as some are excited to see his take on the role while others questioned why he decided to participate in the project.

However, as of recently, he is no longer involved in the series.

According to Deadline, Nicholas Hoult exited the second season of HBO's Harry Potter due to scheduling conflicts.

The actor has been working on the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, where he is reprising the role of Lex Luthor. However, when the filming schedule for his character's scenes was shifted, he could no longer commit to the series.

As a result, Hoult had to exit the project, and HBO reached out to Kit Harington, who agreed to take over the role of Gilderoy Lockhart.

The Game of Thrones star had already played the villain before, as he voiced him in Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, which was released last year.

In case you're not familiar, Gilderoy Lockhart, the main villain of Chamber of Secrets, is a former Ravenclaw student turned wizarding celebrity. He built a fortune publishing bestsellers about his alleged triumphs over dark creatures.

However, in reality, he was a total fraud whose only genuine talent lay in Memory Charms, which he used to wipe the minds of real heroes before claiming their feats for himself.
