Hawkeye Episode 5 is said to be one that will break the internet and considering that it is the penultimate run of the canon show and with what transpired in their recent outing, it is expected that it will be a massive one. What Happened in Hawkeye Episode 4?
In Hawkeye Episode 4, "Partners, Am I Right?," the episode started with the retractable Ronin sword pointed on Clint Barton by Jack Duquesne who happens to be at the penthouse when Kate thought it would be empty. It turns out that even her mother is there. Eleanor recognized that there is an Avenger in her dining hall and Kate explained that they are working on a case where people are actually in danger.
Clint clarified that Kate is not his partner and Eleanor asked to keep her safe as she cannot afford to lose her only child. Clint promised her safety. Arriving at the flat of Kate’s aunt, Kate gave Clint Barton a small Christmas party with pizza, movies, and even a tree to decorate while they are planning to take down Jack Duquesne who turned out to be the head of the Tracksuit mafia.
They were in cozy Christmas sweaters as well that even Lucky, the Pizza Dog, has his own costume fit for the festivities. They decorated a Christmas tree and had a bonding over Kate learning a coin trick Clint taught her which she, impressively, picked up fast and with only a few tries. After that, Kate asked Clint what is the best shot he ever took and he said it is the one he didn’t take.
It turns out that he was tasked to take down Natasha Romanoff but he couldn’t because he realized she only wanted out. He claimed that “she was the best there ever was.” He also reflected on his job being “a game of managing loss.” Kate realized that Clint lost his family in the blip and being Ronin is his way of coping up.
It showed why he is reluctant to be considered a hero that while Kate looks at him as a hero, he saw himself as a weapon where he was given targets who are people. He also realized that those were all tied to him and his family which is why he stayed to clean up the mess until he fixes it.
The next day, He tasked Kate to retrieve their trick arrows from one of the LARPers he met in Episode 2 while he talks to Kazi about Maya’s pursuit of Ronin which could lead to her death. He convinced him to convince her to stop. Meanwhile, Kate managed to get the trick arrows and had some fun time with the LARPers, even contracting them to make costumes as a deal in their help.
Clint also consulted with Laura, his wife, who is very supportive in his endeavors as he helps him track some things down like Sloan Ltd. wherein it was revealed that Jack Duquesne was the CEO of the shell company Sloan Ltd. and that the vintage Rolex watch that he wants to retrieve is somewhere near their location.

When he received its location, he immediately went there but stubborn Kate still tagged along with him. She claims to be his partner so she went with him. Upon arriving, they stopped at an opposite building to plan and do the lookout. While Hawkeye was giving instructions, Kate seems like she wanted to prove Hawkeye that she is worthy to be a hero so she went into the apartment when she was supposed to be the lookout.
Clint left her precise instructions but danger is around the corner as they realized that the place was Maya’s apartment. Maya attacked Kate and Clint was being attacked by a masked assassin who he first thought to be Maya but it turns out to be someone else who is extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat.
The masked assassin does not seem to be affiliated with Maya as she gets attacked as well. The assassin had a Widow’s bite, same as Natasha’s weapon in Iron Man 2. When Kate fired an arrow which is like an EMP, they were pained and the masked assassin finally took the mask off and the big reveal happened – it was Yelena Belova.
After the tension broke, Clint disowned Kate and claimed that they were never partners. He ordered her to go home and he said that the tension was really heated now that Yelena, a trained Black Widow, is after him. It could be remembered that he promised Eleanor Bishop Kate’s safety. Pushing her away meant that he was only protecting her.
Hawkeye Episode 5 Spoilers, Theories, and Leaks
The whole episode was a rollercoaster of emotions and it also has so much to offer as to what happens next. Now that Yelena is in the picture, how would Clint clear his name and tell her that he did not kill Natasha as he still blames himself for her death and her choice of letting go meant that his family and the rest of half of the universe will be snapped back to existence?
With Jack Duquesne being the head and CEO of Sloan Ltd., how will it change the game now that things are circling back to the fiancé of Kate’s mother? Also, did his arrival debunk the theories of Kingpin being the uncle of Maya, or is he someone else involved with the Tracksuit mafia?
