X-Men actress Halle Berry recently opened up about not returning as Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine.
The hit MCU film brought back several actors from past Marvel movies including Wesley Snipes' Blade, Dafne Keen's X-23, Chris Evans' Johnny Storm, Aaron Stanford's Pyro, and Jennifer Garner's Elektra.
However, Hugh Jackman's co-stars in the original X-Men movies were notably absent as none of the main cast members showed up in the film. Fans have been wondering why they were not recruited for the multiversal adventure.
Halle Berry Addresses Her Deadpool & Wolverine Absence
In a recent red carpet interview at the premiere of her new Netflix film The Union, Berry revealed that she was not asked to reprise the role of Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine.
While Blake Lively personally invited her to appear in the film, she never received a formal offer from Ryan Reynolds.
"No. Blake [Lively] asked me one time, I ran into her at a Marc Jacobs fashion show, and she said, 'Would you ever be in my husband's movie as Storm?' I said, 'Yeah, if he asked me,' but he never asked me," the actress said.
It is an interesting comment from Berry as it suggested that there might have been early conversations to bring her back as Storm in the film and Lively was privy to the information being the wife of Reynolds.
However, in the end, the film settled with a couple of names from various non-MCU titles and even recruited someone from a canceled project (Channing Tatum's Gambit).
While it is disappointing that other X-Men vets such as Berry did not appear in the film, there is still a possibility that they will be recruited in Avengers: Secret Wars where they have the avenue to bring back all major heroes across the multiverse.
Deadpool & Wolverine is showing in theaters everywhere.
