Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Resumes Production Early 2021, Working Title Revealed

James Gunn has been re-hired for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but for now, he'll be putting the priority on his DCEU project, The Suicide Squad. The good news is, we now have an exact date for when GOTG Vol. 3 resumes production.

According to Production Weekly (via Pursue News), the production of Guardians 3 is set to resume on February 2021 in Pinewood Studios, Atlanta. The movie has also been dubbed with the working title Hot Christmas, and it set to use the original script that Gunn had developed for the film before he got fired.

With the production already set with a date, I think we could be expecting the film to come out sometime in 2022. It's a hell of a long wait, but at least we have Gunn back on the helm. Hopefully, by the time the movie comes out, we would have already seen films like Black Widow, The Eternals, and Shang-Chi; maybe even the Doctor Strange sequel.

Admittedly Guardians 3 was expected to set the stage for Phase 4, but after Gunn was fired last year, we saw a sudden shift in Marvel's reveals. As of now, the only confirmed movie we have yet to come out after Avengers: Endgame is Spider-Man: Far from Home. Hopefully, Marvel will be more open to filling up the slate after Endgame is finally out of the way.

No release date has been set for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but we should expect all of them to make an appearance in Avengers: Endgame which comes out April 26.
